Become a Volunteer Visitor and provide friendship and companionship to an older person living in an aged care home.

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) supports older people who are socially isolated by matching them with a Volunteer Visitor for regular 1:1 in-person social visits.

As a Volunteer Visitor, you will:

  • meet regularly with an older person living in an aged care home in your local area
  • connect with your new friend in ways that you both enjoy
  • improve wellbeing and enhance social connections and sense of community
  • provide a meaningful way for an older person to feel a sense of purpose
  • reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation
  • enhance and develop new skills and knowledge in aged care

Volunteer Visitors are:

  • aged 18 years and older
  • empathetic and have a genuine warmth towards older people
  • good communicators and great listeners
  • patient, kind and caring

Training: Online training. In-person orientation. Ongoing support. Peer networking.

Location: In-person visits take place in an aged care homes in Umina Beach, Woy Woy, Point Clare, West Gosford, Wyoming, Lisarow and Erina.
