Side Gate Cafe is run with the help of volunteers and offers quality low cost meals to all people from all walks of life. It is a community cafe that offers conversation and connection to any one who may be feeling isolated, or in need of a friendly face and a chat. It is a regular hub for friends to meet together and groups to share a cuppa and or lunch. Serving in the cafe includes all aspects of kitchen work, from food prep, cooking, baking, hot and cold foods, desserts, barista coffee, cleaning, dishes, services, waiting tables, taking orders etc. We take food safe handling very seriously and all our volunteers are required to complete a free online course.

We are open to volunteers who are willing to give of their time and we can assist in you finding your niche or help you to hone your skills. Maybe there is something new you would love to try. Hands on training available for the right person.

To enable us to provide quality food and service, we need reliable volunteers, who have a friendly disposition, is willing to work in part of a team and be a team player. In turn all our volunteers are highly regarded at Marion Church of Christ as we seek to value people and build community.

A regular day and time is allotted so you can plan your week, and give us much or as little as you are able.

All the usual safety checks are also required - Working with Children and Volunteering Checks etc, we can arrange for you, at no cost to you, if you require assistance.
