Who are we? Ronald McDonald House Charities is one of the leading Global and Australian children’s charities supporting the ever-changing needs of seriously ill children and their families. In-line with its mission, Ronald McDonald House Charities Victoria & Tasmania (RMHC VIC & TAS) has dedicated more than 35 years to keeping families closer to their child with a serious illness who require treatment and support across Victoria and Tasmania.

What we're looking for:

Family Room Assistant We are very excited to be opening our Family Room mid-March 2024.

You will assist us in providing a clean, welcoming and comfortable environment for the families visiting the RMHC Family Room situated within the Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital. Your role will include providing a warm welcome to the families, perhaps making them a cup of tea and assisting the children with story reading or some arts and crafts. You will also assist with light cleaning and restocking to ensure our Family Room is clean and organised.

Managed by volunteers, the Family Room contains lounge areas, a dining area, a small kitchenette, and a children's play area.

This role will not include child minding, all children that visit our Family Room must be supervised by their carer.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Excellent engagement skills to be able to chat with our families
  • A "can-do" / positive attitude to brighten peoples' lives
