Aged Care Volunteer Visitors – Making a difference (Box Hill)

Inclusion Melbourne

Logo for Inclusion Melbourne

Inclusion Melbourne is an auspice in the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS); a national program that aims to enrich the quality of life of older people and enhance their social connectedness.

As an Inclusion Melbourne volunteer, you’ll find that as you meet new people and make new friends, you’ll obtain personal satisfaction and have fun. It’s a way for you to use your skills and past experiences to keep growing – and the learning doesn’t stop. Inclusion Melbourne provides on-going training, as well as the support of an experienced Volunteer Coordinator.

As an Inclusion Melbourne Aged Care Volunteer Visitor, you’ll spend time with someone in your local community who may be lonely or socially isolated. We're looking for caring individuals who can sit and have a chat, reminisce and talk about topics of interest with elderly people in their own homes. Play card games, watch a movie, have a cuppa, go for a walk outside, or visit your local coffee shop or men’s shed group.

Our Volunteer Coordinator will spend time with you to understand your interests and background, and they’ll work to match you with a client in a suburb nearby who may share these similar interests.

A lovely lady living in Box Hill would enjoy your regular company each week or fortnight. She enjoys going for short walks, listening to music and singing and watching old movies. You'll help to improve her quality of life and help reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Your impact: Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits on a fortnightly basis for a minimum of 12 months are required. Visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help older people feel less isolated. Your visits will bring great joy and happiness to the recipient you are matched with. Come and join us!
