Organisations description: McAuley Community Services for Women is changing lives and tackling complex and connected problems. They support women and children who have faced family violence and homelessness to take control of their lives.

Program description: McAuley Learning Support aims to re-engage and re-connect school-aged children with learning. Customised tutoring is provided to support the ongoing educational needs of children disconnected from their schools and learning due to family violence. Sessions are designed to champion the mother, by developing family learning routines and strategies.

Skills required

  • Teaching skills preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working with children, or studying other child related courses such as social work, speech pathology etc.

Time required

  • 1 hour per week plus relevant training and meetings

Location

  • Online

Commitment required

  • Weekly participation during school terms. 12 month commitment.

  • COVID-19 vaccination
