Volunteers are required to have their full Australian Driver's Licence and are confident and comfortable supporting others to drive. Volunteers should be patient, have clear communication skills and be able to build rapport with the young person they are matched with. Volunteers need to be willing to listen, encouraging and supportive, tolerant and respectful, open minded, kind and caring. Volunteers need to be over 21, be willing to obtain a NSW Working with Children's Check (Volunteer), National Police Check and a Driving history report. They also must be medically fit to drive and be able to commit to driving for 1-2 hours per month minimum.

All volunteers will be required to complete the Road Ready Mentor Training over the course of one day. This training is catered and free. Volunteers will also have access to Child Safe training and Junction Support Services policies to support the volunteer role.
