Are you a movie fan or an avid gamer who wants to make a difference? We're seeking a compassionate individual to become a friend for David, a fantastic person with intellectual disability who loves gaming on his Xbox and watching movies.

What's Involved?

David has an intellectual disability and is looking for a friend who will come and hang out and share his interests.

As a volunteer, your role would involve spending time together, engaging in activities David loves. Whether it's teaming up for some Xbox gaming, enjoying a movie, or simply hanging out and chatting, your presence will make a significant difference in David's life.

Why Volunteer?

By becoming David's friend, you'll create a meaningful relationship that will brighten David's days. Your friendship will make a profound impact and bring happiness to both David and you.

You’ll have the flexibility to shape your involvement around your schedule, so whether you choose to dedicate an hour or so a week or engage more casually, you can make a difference in a way that fits your life.

We provide training and ongoing support giving you access to workshops, events and opportunities to connect with other volunteers.

While no special experience or qualifications are needed, volunteering as an advocate requires:

  • compassion and empathy
  • good communication skills
  • patience and flexibility
  • commitment to inclusion
  • respect for diversity - abilities, backgrounds, and communication styles
  • reliability and dedication.

We're looking for dedicated individuals, aged 18 and above, ready for a long-term commitment to advocacy. This role is not suitable for students seeking short-term experience or placements. Consistency and dedication to the role is essential, as advocacy often requires ongoing support and involvement.

If you're ready to make a positive difference and forge a fantastic friendship while sharing your love for gaming and movies, we'd love to hear from you.
