Community Care Beenleigh is a safe and supportive counselling & financial service for the Greater Beenleigh community. We provide counselling and interest-free loans (NILs) giving vulnerable members of our community choice, support, and the opportunity to overcome difficult problems.

We are currently seeking a Treasurer to join our management committee who will play a vital role in ensuring the financial health and transparency of our organisation. Your dedication and expertise in accounting/bookkeeping will directly impact our ability to allocate resources effectively and further our mission.

Time required:

Bi-monthly(every two months) meetings are held from 4.30 – 6.00 pm in rooms at Community Care Beenleigh on the first Wednesday of the relevant month. In addition, some required accounting functions to prepare accounting records for BAS Reports lodgement, financial reports and general accounting administration (8-10 hours per month). A financial allowance can be negotiated for professional services voluntarily rendered i.e.8-10 per month, per Australian Taxation Office rulings.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Management Committee's understanding of financial obligations and tax regulations.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of financial management policies, including fraud prevention measures.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, prepare accurate financial reports, and enter invoices into financial management software (MYOB)
  • Develop and manage annual budget, and monitor income, expenses, and cash flow.
  • Collaborate with auditors to ensure accounting standards compliance, and prepare audit documentation.
  • Prepare and submit returns to authorities (Fair Trading QLD, ACNC, ATO)

Required Skills:

  • Qualifications and experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficiency in financial management software (MYOB or similar).
  • Passion for our mission and a desire to make a positive impact
  • Knowledge of Australian taxation would be favourable.
