The Pyjama Foundation are seeking dedicated volunteer mentors, known as Pyjama Angels, to provide support and guidance.

This is a flexible role which can be fitted around Pyjama Angels' other commitments. The Pyjama Foundation can match you with clients that are available when you are. Location and any other preferences you may have are also taken into account.

As a Pyjama Angel, you'll have the opportunity to visit a young person in foster care for just one hour each week, offering valuable assistance in learning, life skills, and confidence-building.

You do not need to be an expert! The Pyjama Foundation are there to support you every step of the way. They provide training, ongoing check-ins and guidance throughout your placement, ensuring you have the necessary resources and assistance to support the young person effectively.

Your one-on-one time with a young person has a profound impact, not only on their life but also on the Foster Carers in your community. Over time, you'll become a trusted mentor, serving as a constant source of encouragement and helping to create a brighter future for them.

Pyjama Angels need the following skills and attributes:

  • ability to listen to your young person and foster their interests in a fun way
  • have a patient and supportive nature with a non-judgmental attitude
  • be flexible, reliable and resilient
  • have a basic understanding of the English language, literacy and numeracy.

Successful volunteers will participate in a full day of training (usually on a Saturday or Sunday between 9am to 5pm).
