The BBQ volunteer position at Picabeen Community Centre plays a crucial role in our organisation. This role involves supporting our Community BBQ lunch, which takes place every Tuesday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. It's more than just flipping burgers; it's about community engagement between our centre and the community we serve.

By taking on this role, you become an essential part of our mission to support and uplift our community.

Tasks include:

  • Meet and greet people as they arrive for the BBQ, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere
  • Setting Up: Arrive early to help set up chairs and tables for the BBQ event.
  • Cutlery Preparation
  • Food Preparation
  • Refreshments: Prepare coffee and tea and set out muffins and coleslaw for attendees.
  • Engagement: If possible, take some time to chat with attendees, fostering connections and making them feel comfortable.
  • Food Service: When serving food, ensure that all attendees are offered food once before offering seconds to avoid running out of food.
  • Cleanup: After the BBQ, participate in packing and cleaning up. Ensure that the dishwasher is started once it's filled.
