Logo for genU

Our nursery in Colac is the only nursery in the region to grow all our stock on site! We specialise in plants local to the Otway region, and a large range of beautiful Australian native plants.

The nursery provides supported employment for people with a disability, so they can experience meaningful employment and build their skills in a supported space.

The role:

The purpose of the Volunteer Nursery Assistant is to encourage, and mentor supported workers. You will help these individuals to learn new skills that will give them the opportunity to access mainstream employment and improve general work prospects. Whilst being a mentor in the space, you will get your hands dirty in the garden, from maintaining the quality and health of the plants, to repotting, transporting and organizing the plants. All whilst having a little fun and laughter along the way!

For you:

  • Meet new people and make new friends!
  • Join a community of volunteers making a difference in your local area.
  • Receive ongoing support and training throughout your journey, including a fully funded NDIS worker screening check.
  • Be welcomed into genU’s friendly and inclusive workplace.

About you:

  • If you have experience in horticulture and are passionate about passing on a skill you’re proud of, that’s a bonus! Alternatively, if you are wanting to get involved and learn something new, that’s okay too!
  • Embodies the welcoming and positive volunteer spirit
  • Passionate about giving back to your community

Time Commitment:

Volunteering shifts are available between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday. At genU, we’re all about flexibility. Let’s chat and find the hours which suit you best!
