The genU Lodge is a respite service which provides a much-needed break for primary carers looking after their loved ones at home. Participants enjoy activities designed to develop, maintain or support independent living and social interaction. genU supports and maintains care relationships between carers and clients by providing respite and support for carers of frail, older people (over 65 years), including those with dementia.

The role:

As a Leisure Activities Volunteer you will help make a meaningful difference. You will engage in conversations with guests and contribute to the range of day-to-day activities or entertainment options on offer.

  • Assist guests to take part in various fun and creative activities/games. This could include bingo, craft, puzzles, board games, music and movies
  • Be a companion and support to guests who may be feeling lonely or isolated. Through engaging in conversation, you will encourage them to take part in activities and make friendships with their peers!

  • Able to communicate with the elderly in a respectful and courteous manner.
  • Have a genuine interest to make a positive difference.
  • Reliable
  • Able to work within a team or autonomously.

Time commitment:

Hours are flexible and can be arranged to suit your lifestyle, between Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 3:00pm.
