The Aged Care Volunteer Visiting Scheme (ACVVS), formally known as Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a Commonwealth Government funded program which connects volunteers with an elderly person who may be feeling lonely or socially isolated, either in an aged care facility or in their own home.

The role:

Volunteers are paired with an elderly member of the community based on shared mutual interests, hobbies, background, culture, personality, and location. Through your visits, you will help reduce feelings of social isolation, and maintain their connection to the community.

For you:

  • Make a real impact in the life of a senior member of the community and their sense of self-worth and belonging.
  • Meet new people and grow your connection to your community.
  • Receive ongoing support and training throughout your journey.
  • Be welcomed into genU’s friendly and inclusive workplace.

About you:

  • Have excellent conversation and listening skills.
  • Hold empathy and compassion about the wellbeing of older people.
  • Ability to work independently.

Time Commitment:

1 hour per week or fortnight between 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.

At genU we strive to be as flexible as possible, and we can discuss what hours work best for you!
