Delivery Driver - Monday & Thursday
St Mary's House of Welcome - BVRC
The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of St Mary's House of Welcome (SMHOW).
We are currently in need of a driver to do a regular weekly shift on Thursdays between 8 and 10/11 (length of shift depends on traffic, number of pick ups etc).
Key responsibilities include:
- Pick the van up from SMHOW at 8 am
- Follow a route of shops and wholesalers who will have food for collection
- Carry the pick ups from the donor to the van and then unload the van back at SMHOW
- Report any accidents, incidents, vehicle maintenance issues, concerns or issues immediately to staff
- Check fuel levels and refill vehicle at BP outlets if fuel gauge is showing half full using the provided petrol card
- Be aware of and utilise correct manual handling/lifting techniques, including the use of trolleys to transport supplies to and from the SMHOW vehicle to minimise injury
- Secure the vehicle at each destination ensuring doors and windows are locked and all lights are off
- Observe safe work practices

- Ability and willingness to learn and accurately follow all relevant processes and procedures
- Current Victorian drivers’ licence
- Experience driving light vehicles
- Ability to complete records accurately
- Ability to think clearly in an emergency
- Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates resilience
- Ability to recognise the difference between general and confidential information and to respect and maintain confidentiality at all times
- Demonstrate empathy towards people who have complex needs
- Act as an ambassador for SMHOW and show appreciation for donated goods received on behalf of St Mary’s
Application process requirements:
- Minimum 18 years old
- Complete SMHOW volunteer application form
- Provide a cover letter and resume
- Complete or provide a current Victorian Police Check and follow renewal procedures
- Complete a Working with Children’s Check or add SMHOW to your existing Check
- Participate in an interview
- Provide referees
- Participate in an induction and any ongoing training as required
