The Service has been operating for over 20 years. City of Melville own and operate the vehicles and Melville Cares have coordinated the bookings and the volunteer drivers over that time.

The purpose of the service - to support groups and individuals who experience challenges accessing transport to participate in activities, be included in the community and experience a sense of belonging resulting in an enhanced quality of life.

As a volunteer driver for the service, you will be contributing to and enhancing the quality of peoples lives through your generous time and effort.

Not for profit groups and associations who offer services to our community members book the buses to be able to take their members on outings and to activities that support their involvement in the community.

We are open to be flexible with your availability and keen to support your application to volunteer whatever time it it is you can offer. If it is half a day a fortnight or three days once a month or if you prefer to do something more regular and more often such as every Tuesday and Friday, we will welcome that as well.

Alternatively, if you prefer to be available on a casual basis where we simply contact you from time to time when no regular volunteer is available, we will accommodate that as well.
