Our Background The Association for Sustainable Communities Inc, is a not-for-profit incorporated association committed to furthering an ecologically sustainable future through reverence for the environment, each other, and our interdependence. Our intention is to create and model ecological and conscious communities that will liberate and nurture the potential of the community through social equity, integrity, courage, transformative growth, care of the planet and collaborative enterprises.

Bellbunya Eco-Community is our model four bottom-line sustainable community on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland that serves as a learning and teaching centre for ecologically sustainable practices. Bellbunya has been host to numerous international and Australian volunteers. In 2012 - 2013, a revegetation project with International Student Volunteers planted thousands of native trees, including many bush tucker species. Bellbunya is a beautiful rural accommodation and eco-education & retreat centre run by volunteers.

Key Duties You will have housekeeping duties to ensure the cleanliness of facilities to a high standard for: Room rentals (short term guests and new members) Conference Hall Commercial kitchen and dining room

It will entail daily communication with the accommodation manager to coordinate and plan the allocation of accommodation, liaise with other departments within the organisation, such as catering for conferences, and relevant external agencies including workshop providers. Additional: You may wish to meet and greet guests. And after an extended time there is the possibility to provide tours of the property for people wishing to learn more about eco-communities

What to expect Rooms and facilities to be cleaned for retreats held with up to 20 people arriving at one time. And for Short term guests

Skills and Attributes strong communication skills excellent customer service skills the ability to motivate people and work as part of a team familiarity with internet, word processing and spreadsheets the ability to remain diplomatic and pleasant, think on your feet and remain calm, flexibility good organisational skills attention to detail and accuracy, a sense of humour Basic health and fitness for light physical duties Love of nature and interest in sustainability Plenty of energy Preference for plant based cooking skills (but not compulsory)

Work experience You'll need experience, particularly in hospitality, facilities management or property management.
