The Emergency Relief Program provides a service that contributes to addressing emergency situations that impact people living within our communities. The program aims to provide assistance in the form of food parcels, material aid and other services for families and individuals experiencing financial crisis. The service operates in a non-judgmental, culturally sensitive and non-discriminatory environment.
Emergency Relief Team Members assist with the sorting and unpacking of donated food items, packing and distribution of food parcels, and maintaining the work environment.

Job description:

  • Provide a welcoming, supportive and respectful service for community members
  • Work as part of a supportive, integrated community programs team
  • Attend volunteer meetings and relevant hands on training or other training
  • Maintain confidentiality in your dealings with children, their families and staff
  • Report any concerns to the Volunteer Programs Coordinator
  • Assist with packing and distribution of food
  • Assist with unpacking of food, sorting, splitting and setting up food items in the pantry, fridges and freezer
  • Promote a proactive approach to Work Health and Safety
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated motivation to commit to a volunteer placement for at least 6 months
  • Contribute to a productive working environment and relationship with the Volunteer Programs Coordinator and other volunteers
  • Other duties as may be required by the Volunteer Programs Coordinator
