The Supervisor will assign roles to you each Saturday. You can request a particular role when you sign up for your monthly shift.

What might I be doing as a food and beverage assistant? Your team leader will assign you a buddy on your first shift. They will be an experienced volunteer and you will work with them. Tasks include: setting up the hall ready for the meal; greeting guests as they arrive and wait outside; serving at the shop; serving tea/coffee; plating meals in the kitchen; serving snacks and meals to our guests; clearing plates; and using our commercial dishwasher.

Do I need any special skills? No. You need to be friendly, respectful, and non-judgmental. Anything else we can teach you!

Do I have to work directly with the guests? Not on the Saturday shift. We understand that not all our volunteers have had contact with the vulnerable and homeless and that this can be challenging for some. We have plenty of 'back office' roles where you can still make a meaningful contribution but don't have any direct contact with our guests.
