Do you love Cats? Want a furry Companion? We are desperately seeking cat foster carers to help us save the many homeless cats in the Busselton/Margaret River area. Foster caring can be suitable for people in all stages of life, from families to singles, it's the perfect way to give back to the community while also getting the love of an animal.

SAFE Busselton works within the community to help rescue unclaimed cats and dogs from the local pound. We also assist members of the public with private surrenders which enables us to have a brief history of the animal and we use this information to place them into suitable foster homes.

We are particularly seeking people who can provide a warm home until adoption for adult cats, particularly households with no other pets or small children as these are the rarest homes and without them we are severely restricted in how many cats we can help!

What is expected of you as a cat foster carer?

  • To provide love and shelter to any cat in your care.
  • Have patience and understanding for them.
  • Keeping them indoors only (our fosters must be inside cats).
  • Organising any vet work that needs to be done (with our help).
  • Driving them, or organising transport, to vet appointments (assistance can be provided).
  • Getting to know your foster to provide information on what you think their ideal home is.
  • Organising a profile and photos for their adoption ad (we'll help you!)
  • Helping our coordinators select the right home for them and following our adoption process.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must have landlord approval if renting.

What support can you expect as a volunteer for SAFE Busselton?

  • All medical expenses covered at our partner vet clinics in Busselton and Vasse.
  • Flea and worming treatments provided.
  • Food, litter, bedding and toys also provided if needed or you can provide your own.
  • Contact with our cat team, who will periodically check in with you and offer advice when needed.
  • Joining our closed Facebook group page with our other foster carers for 24/7 support and community. We will support you every step of the way while you're starting out on your journey. To register your interest in becoming a cat foster carer for us please respond to this add.
