The Mount Druitt Ethnic Communities Agency is an independent community-based organization dedicated to informing, linking, and empowering people from culturally diverse backgrounds to enhance a culturally rich and diverse Australia. MECA works with local people to identify the needs of and improve settlement services to, migrants, refugees, and emerging communities in the suburbs of Mount Druitt and the wider Blacktown Local Government Area. Responsibilities As part of the role you will undertake tasks including:

  • Assist and provide information to clients at the reception in person, and via phone and email
  • Handle incoming calls and other communications
  • Book and manage appointments
  • Manage filing system and record information as needed
  • Manage database
  • Write and distribute emails, correspondence, letters, and forms
  • Update and maintain office policies and procedures
  • Help organize and maintain office common areas
  • Perform general office clerk duties and errands

Eligibility Criteria The ideal candidate should have:

  • Skills as an office assistant or in a related field.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Basic English Proficiency
  • Ability to work well in a team set-up as well as independently

This is an unpaid, voluntary position.
