Job Purpose

The Hunter Cancer Hub is an exciting new project, made possible by The Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation, launched in early 2022 that will act as the central point between those who are impacted by cancer and support services.

We have a busy office in Kotara with a a stream of planned appointments as well as regular ‘drop-in’ enquires. We are seeking the support of a team of volunteers to be in the office to meet and greet everyone who visits and make them welcome while also completing Office Administration tasks and duties.

This role will appeal to people who have a passion for community work, love chatting with people and most of all, have experience interacting with people who are nervous or facing uncertainty.

Most days there will be a clinician and other support personnel on hand. As the face of the Hunter Cancer HUB, you will be playing a major role in supporting people who are impacted by cancer and seeking help. There might be instances where you may be working alone.

Personal Qualities and Requirements

  • Able to actively listen and communicate confidently
  • Friendly and engaging with a can-do attitude
  • Being able to operate independently and with confidence
  • Discretion and understanding of privacy principles
  • Able to adapt to change and willingness to give things a go
  • Excellent administrative skills and awesome attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft suite and Salesforce would be beneficial.

Key working relationships

Reporting to and supported by the Canteen Area Manager of the Newcastle Office, you will work alongside several stakeholders, including the broader Canteen service team as well as partner organisations at The Hunter Cancer Hub
