Mernda Repair Café is the first community Repair Program for the community of Whittlesea hosted at the Mernda Community House and outdoor community space. It is a free, inclusive and cross cultural community event that offers repairs of personal items by volunteer Repairers. Our focus is to bring awareness of a more sustainable lifestyle where we can divert items from landfill in our community.

This volunteer role consists of assisting with repairing furniture that a community member bring has brought to the event.

Also, to share your knowledge of furniture repair and maintenance with the community.

Join the Team: Be an Eco Warrior and help the community to reduce waste going to landfill. Please note that community members are responsible for bring their own replacement or broken parts, if possible.

VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES • Assessing if the piece of furniture is repairable or not, during the event time • To the repair or fix a piece of furniture, if possible. • Assessing If if the piece of furniture is repairable or not, during the event time. • Maintaining repair café machinery and tools to a working order. • Bring their own tool bag for the role. • Setup and pack down the work space at events. • Notifying the Repair Café Coordinator of any issues with tools, machinery and low stock of the Repair café mending kit..
