Organisation description: Community & Arts Centre located in Altona providing a diverse range of arts, community and sustainability programs and projects.
Job description: Our edible garden volunteers work to create and maintain a healthy, productive edible garden to increase community access to fresh food.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting planning of seasonal planting (including veggie selection; propagation; crop rotation and planting out beds)
- Watering – watering pots, garden beds and wicking beds
- Harvesting and supporting community to share in garden produce
- Weeding, composting and seasonal soil maintenance
Duties may also include:
- Helping maintain LJAC Seed Library
- Contributing ideas for improving the space through additional garden infrastructure and perennial plants etc
Location: 5 Sargood St Altona
Skills required:
- Interest in gardening and growing food.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Be reliable, flexible, and committed. . Time required: A few hours a week (very flexible)
Commitment required: Regular – more than 6 months
