Community Canteen is a Brisbane based not for profit that has been predominately privately funded since its inception over twenty years ago. We have no paid employees and have about 200 volunteers who provide their time and services over the course of the year. Our service delivery model is to partner with other organisations and share resources. We do not have our own premises as this allows us to direct money to food. It also enables us to build into the community of work already undertaken by our charity partners and assist in introducing people in need to other services which provide support in addition to food. Community Canteens annual partnership with The Wesley Mission, Communify and Second Bite provides around 27,000 meals to people in need – primarily those experiencing homelessness and women and children in temporary accommodation as a result of domestic violence.
