Enterprize Ship Trust

The 27-metre all-timber, two masted, topsail schooner, Enterprize is a fully operational replica of a cargo trading vessel originally constructed in Hobart in 1830 by William Harvey and William Pender as part of the early coastal trading fleets of southern Australia. At that time most bulk cargo was transported by sea. Enterprize carried cargo such as coal and supplies, on one occasion, over 180 sheep Her modern day mission is to provide all Victorians with the opportunity to experience life on board a 19th-century sailing ship. During the week, (usually Thursdays) Enterprize plays host to Victorian school children offering two-hour history and sail sessions and multi-day sail training excursions. On weekends we travel to different ports around Port Phillip Bay (Williamstown, Mornington and Geelong), conducting one hour sails to the public, to experience the Bay during the day and in the evening.
