During 1978 a group of concerned local business & community people felt the need for a 'Drop-in-Centre' for the Youth of Kalgoorlie and Boulder. The 'Boulder Youth Management Committee Inc' was formed. A change in name occurred in 1982 to Goldfirled Youth Management Committe Ince. A decisdion to rename the organisation to 'Palace Theatre Recreation Centre Inc' occurred on 1st November 1999. It was felt this was a better indication of the activities of this facility. The volunteer committ has turned the Palace Theatre into a vibrant community centre with activites on most evenings and weekends. Low-cost hire enables other organisations to use the facilities. Over the years, the organisation have been award numerous accolades for volunteering, local and statewide. Most of the volunteer board have been with the organisation since 2000. Palace Theatre Recreation Centre Inc is owned and managed for the Community, by the Community.
