Walk for a Veteran Inc was established in 2020 as an official registered charity. However the charity has been born from the annual Walk for a Veteran with PTSD event which began in 2016. Three friends; current and ex serving ADF members, decided to walk 41km to raise funds for Operation K9 at the time being a joint program between RSL SA and Royal Society for the Blind (RSB), and raising awareness for mental health issues experienced by veterans. The first Walk for a Veteran with PTSD raised $6,000 with support from the Henley and Grange RSL and Largs Bay RSL. The event grew to 50 people in it's second year, then 300 and 375 people in the subsequent years with the addition of our emergency services.
