The organisations aims and objectives are to: Support families and friends of people who use substances in Australia. Mission statement: "To assist families throughout Australia to deal with alcohol and other drugs issues in a way that strengthens relationships and achieves positive outcomes” Family Drug Support provides up to date information on all aspects of alcohol and drug use relative to the families of people who use substances. FDS also operates a National 24 hr, 7 day a week telephone support service for families affected by alcohol and other drug issues. Family Drug Support Australia supports families and friends of people who use substances as well as bereaved families in Australia.
