EWAV is a non-profit organisation, formed by committed and visionary Ethiopian women to strengthen partnerships within and across diverse ethnic groups and religions within the Ethiopian community and to continue the growth and leadership of Ethiopian women and young people in Victoria. The main objective of our alliance is to bring together all Ethiopian women and men from all religious and ethnic backgrounds to work with us to make a difference. The purposes of the Ethiopian Women’s Alliance in Victoria are: a. To raise public awareness about substance abuses, HIV and mental health issues of Ethiopian communities b. To provide education assistance and information to children of single parents and low educational background c. To advocate against family violence for all Ethiopian women regardless of their ethnicity or religious affiliations d. To provide an opportunity for Ethiopian women and children to participate in sports and entertainments to enhance their health and wellbeing
