Compassionate and enthusiastic people needed for Community Dining Room team. Hartley's Meals has provided free and low-cost meals to the community for over 20 years. We support people experiencing homelessness, economic hardship and social isolation. Hartley's offers lunch on weekdays year-round, and Breakfast from April-September. The dining room has seating for up to 50 customers and has an outdoor courtyard area.
We are in need of an experienced and competent driver of our little van "The Moving Wardrobe" to take clothes out to the homeless during the day and also at nights. If you have a few hours to spare perhaps you will consider becoming one of our team to help out.
The Coordinator will commence as a dog reading team volunteer and after two school terms receive training to take on the Coordinator position. The Coordinator will recruit, train, support, manage and give recognition to volunteers within the region. The position will also raise awareness of the Story Dogs brand and services. This is a non paid, volunteer role. This role requires you to have a suitable dog.

If you have excellent communication skills and a desire to help young people learn and solve problems, you can volunteer at the Craig Family Centre as a Volunteer Homework Tutor. Volunteer Homework Tutors assist school children with their homework. Sessions are held every Wednesday from 4pm-5.30pm during the school term. Ongoing training and support is provided.

The Boroondara Family Network supports families living in the City of Boroondara with children under the age of six. The volunteer visits the parents home to provide parenting support for the families. The volunteer provides practical help (holding/playing with the baby), friendly support and encouragement in a non judgemental manner. The volunteers are available to engage in adult conversation and be a listening ear. They may assist families to access other community services where appropriate

We are seeking a Volunteer Visitor available for a weekday visit to a delightful gentleman living in a Aged Care Home in McKinnon who needs a companion that can speak Auslan. Boroondara Cooks is a meal sharing and community-strengthening program that supports older residents (Diners) who live in their own home, however aren’t always able to cook for themselves. The program connects community members (Volunteer Cooks) who are happy to share an extra portion of their home cooked meal with an older neighbour on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. The Diner appreciates a regular home cooked meal delivered to them and a friendly face to say hello.
