We are in need of Volunteers to work with our Formal Savvy Volunteer. The volunteers will have to unpack boxes, sort dresses and hang them by sizes. You will also have the opportunity to help style dresses and suits for girls and boys attending formals or graduations Volunteers need to be double vaccinated.
We are in need of Volunteers to work with our Work Savvy team. The volunteers will help other community members along the pathway to employment. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing candidates for success in the interview. They also help them with resume, cover letter, job application and help them by giving confidence building tips. Volunteers need to be double vaccinated.
Can you spare 3 hours per week. Come and volunteer at the Pantry and the Wardrobe – a community based retail environment where the community feels at home. We have an op shop, a pantry area and also pack food parcels for those in need.
The successful applicant will need - NDIS Worker Screening (Blue and Yellow Card) - Strong communication skills - Confident to be working with people from a diverse range of cultures, backgrounds, and disabilities - Gardening experience in home or professional Availability between Monday to Friday, 12:30pm – 3:30pm with a maximum of 8 hours required.
We need volunteers to assist our Collection Manager with the on-going preservation of the Cairns’ important Chinese heritage which includes unique artefacts from the nationally significant Cairns Lit Sung Goong Temple Collection.
Formed in 2016, our volunteers get to experience a beautiful ever-changing view and lovely breezes while they contribute their time in the garden beds. Meeting on Tuesdays the Sandpipers work along the Esplanade, Pioneer Cemetery and other high-profile green spaces in the CBD to support Council in keeping our gardens looking spick and span. The Sandpipers group volunteers on Tuesday mornings from 9am to noon.
If you enjoy engaging with primary school children and have a knack for storytelling, we would love to have you as part of our Museum Schools Team. You will be working with a small team in a supervised, supported environment. You don’t need to be a teacher – a delight in talking with kids is the main skill we are seeking. Our Schools Team lead school activities in the Museum, as well as running off-site programs through our History on the Move trailer. Volunteers must be vaccinated.
It is a varied position where no two days will be the same, providing a rewarding and welcoming learning experience to the Museum through guided visits to the public. This role requires a well presented individual, with good communication and interpersonal skills. Full training and an introduction will be provided to the Museum exhibits. The Museum is open Monday to Saturday, with two guides or hosts working together. Volunteers must be vaccinated.
The Receptionist is the first point of contact for visitors, so this role requires a well presented individual, with good communication and interpersonal skills. Tasks include ticket and retail sales, visitor greeting, orientation and assistance, telephone inquiries and direction. The Museum is open Monday to Saturday, and two receptionists are usually rostered to work together. Volunteers must be vaccinated.
Court Networker volunteers, known as Networkers, support people accessing and navigating the domestic and family violence court systems. They empower and increase the confidence of court users in managing the requirements of the courts. Our volunteers provide active, empathetic and non-judgmental support, build court user confidence, assist court users to navigate their court needs and requirements, promote understanding of legal processes and provide non-legal information and support.

MDFA's Peer Support Groups provide a safe and welcoming space for people living with aged-related macular degeneration to share their stories and ask questions of their peers. The Facilitator role is well suited to someone with good communications skills and confidence in public speaking. Ideally you will have experience facilitating a support group and/or demonstrate the ability to lead a balanced discussion. Personal experience with macular disease is desirable, not necessary.
