SisterWorks is a partner of the UN Women to deliver the UN Women’ Second Chance Education pilot project in Australia. SisterWorks provides training programs to the most vulnerable women with little English of Refugee and migrant backgrounds. As a Computer Literacy Teacher, you will be working in the SisterWorks training room, empowering women by teaching digital skills on-site and/or online.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Welcome students, encouraging them to know each other and ensuring they have a positive experience during the training
  • Use available SisterWorks tools, such as app and games, to provide the first training instructions
  • Set up the activity, selecting necessary computers and materials for the day
  • Teach the skills and supervise students’ performance
  • Work in a team with other teachers and coordinators, organizing activities and sharing responsibilities
  • Encourage students to do organize the room together, ensuring all materials will be returned to storage at the end of each session
  • Create training content, planning courses and selecting appropriate materials, aiming to improve Sisterworks programs continually

Desired experience and qualifications:

  • Excellent computer and smartphone skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of the experiences of women with different backgrounds living in an Australian context and ability to communicate and work with people from CALD backgrounds
  • Good listening and observational skills, being able to identify sources of frustration and offer fresh and creative solutions
  • Ability to lead activities and to teach face to face and online
  • Capacity to work as part of a team
