Vision Australia is a leading national provider of blindness and low vision services in Australia. We work in partnership with Australians who are blind or have low vision to help them achieve the possibilities they choose in life.

We do this through 35 Vision Australia centres in Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia; and through outreach programs in the Northern Territory and Tasmania.

The volunteer will: • perform driving tasks to transport (pick up and drop off) clients to assist them to access recreation • ensure vehicles are left in a standard for use by other staff and volunteers • complete required data recording tasks to accurately record information about your volunteering activities
Work as a team of driver and assistant jockey to support people with low vision and who are blind to safely access transport.
The volunteer may:
• perform sighted guide techniques to effectively support clients, volunteers or staff to safely navigate their environment and lift mobility aids into the vehicle
• complete data recording and other administration tasks to accurately record a service with a client (including reporting requirements)
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
The volunteer demonstrates:
• Safe Driving skills • Time management skills • Working with minimal supervision • Working with people who are blind or have low vision; also older people and people with a disability. DESIRABLE SKILLS (NOT ESSENTIAL) The volunteer may have abilities in: • Attention to detail • Administration skills • Customer service skills

• Manual handling skills • Visual translation skills
