The Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast Inc. (formerly the Ethnic Communities Council Gold Coast) was established in 1983 by a group of volunteers and representatives from various ethnic communities, clubs and associations in response to the growing number of migrants, new arrivals and refugees, especially those from non-English speaking backgrounds. It was identified that their needs were not adequately being met by the mainstream services who were primarily based in Brisbane. The MCCGC was incorporated in 1986 with a charter to ensure that people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds have equal access to appropriate services for their health and wellbeing.
