Migrant Resource Centre (Northern Tasmania) Inc

We aim to provide relevant services and resources to promote the benefit and well being of humanitarian and migrant entrants to Tasmania, particularly those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged. The Drive 4 Life program is a community project established to assist migrants and refugees through the process of securing a drivers’ licence. The programs’ participants are on low incomes and unable to access mentor driving services. A license to drive is a passport for these migrants and refugees to gain independence. Obtaining a license is integral in supporting their transition into settlement within the Launceston community, particularly to engage in education and secure employment and enable them to realise their full potential in the Launceston community. The Drive 4 Life program recruits dedicated volunteers who act as mentors that provide complimentary driving tuition in one of two dual-controlled vehicles that are owned by the MRC.
