The Nor-West Jockey Club

Logo for The Nor-West Jockey Club

Horse racing in Roebourne has been an annual social event since 1867, attracting bookies, jockeys, trainers and spectators from all over Australia. The races were originally held on the left hand side of the Cossack Road, before moving to the present course in 1890, with the site named the Nor-West Jockey Club. Fast forward over 150 years and the Roebourne Races is as popular as ever. The NWJC is a Not For Profit organisation run by a dedicated group of locals who volunteer their time to keep the racing spirit alive in the Pilbara.
