Talk Out Loud

Logo for Talk Out Loud

Talk Out Loud is a non-profit, non-government organisation that provides targeted suicide prevention initiatives, activities and programs for youth up to 30 years of age. Our primary mission is to equip young people with the tools to maintain a healthy mental, physical and emotional lifestyle using a positive mindset approach. We assist young people in connecting with other like-minded young people within a safe and positive environment. Several of them refer to Talk Out Loud as their 'second family'. However, the majority share lived experiences with suicide grief, have/currently struggle with a mental health condition, or disengage from mainstream education. We provide the means to support them in finding the right path to recovery, especially when parents approach us with concerns about their loved ones and don't know where to turn. Our main objectives are achieved through offering youth empowerment camps, student leadership camps, training workshops, public speaking opportunities, event planning, Fringe productions, monthly meetups and ongoing social events. Volunteers are therefore needed to undertake a diverse range of roles. We believe Talk Out Loud offers a unique opportunity to be seen as pioneers in innovative youth mental health and harm prevention services. Our niche is providing personal and ongoing support for every young person and their families. To date, we have assisted hundreds of young people and reached almost 4,000 youth in our school and community presentations alone. However, we believe this is only the beginning. With a permanent home base, we are now in a position to continue to reach thousands more young people in the future.
