Reading out of Poverty is a not-for-profit organisation focused on developing the early literacy skills of Victoria’s most disadvantaged children including those from a low socioeconomic background, new migrant families, refugee and indigenous backgrounds. Our primary purpose is to provide a strong foundation for children to learn to read so that they can succeed in education and reach their full potential. Reading Out of Poverty provides disadvantaged Victorian children from birth to 5 years with programs that help build a strong foundation in literacy – so that they can succeed in education and reach their full potential. Out critical pre-literacy support services include read aloud and one on one reading support, parent mentoring and books and literacy resources. We focus on children growing a love for reading and their homes becoming a literacy rich environment.
