Parkview Residential Aged Care Community is seeking cheerful, energetic and engaging volunteers to join residents for games, conversation, and small‑group activities that make weekends more engaging.

The Weekend Activity Volunteer can help residents by:

  • Inviting residents to join in simple, enjoyable activities like board games, card games, friendly chats, or creative sessions.
  • Advising the Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator of any resources needed for upcoming sessions.
  • Wrapping up the session by resetting the space and assisting residents as they transition out of the activity.
  • Supporting residents by fostering connection, purpose, and meaningful engagement.
  • Communicating resident feedback to staff to assist in improving both the activity and resident enjoyment.

This role is suitable for people who have well developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and display a calm and empathetic manner when engaging with residents. Volunteering is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of our senior residents while making friends, having fun and learning new skills.

Volunteer hours are available on Saturdays and Sundays with morning or afternoon sessions to suit your availability. Your volunteering schedule will be agreed upon prior to commencement.

This program is located within the Wheller Gardens Aged Care Community where the residents enjoy a wonderful sense of life, fun, and friendship.

All our volunteers follow a COVID-19 safe work plan and provide proof they have received a minimum of one primary COVID-19 vaccination before they are registered in their role.

Volunteers will also be required to have a current NDIS Workers Screening Clearance prior to commencement. This can be applied for through Wesley Mission Queensland at no cost to you.
