Logo for The Big Issue Australia

The Big Issue Australia is an independent organisation that develops and operates social enterprises and creative, sustainable solutions to homelessness, providing opportunities for homeless and marginalised people to positively change their lives.

We are an agent for social change, our work is focused on promoting social inclusion and alleviating poverty in Australia.

This is achieved by creating work opportunities and connecting people with the community, via our Street Magazine Enterprise, Women's Subscriptions Enterprise, Community Street Soccer Program and The Big Issue Classroom.

The Big Issue Australia is proudly non-judgmental and welcoming to all, treating all people with dignity and respect, and promoting independence and self-reliance.

Depending on availability of the candidate there will be opportunities to support the team in daily vendor sales and support tasks. Tasks could include:

Selling magazines to vendors from the office or to vendors when they are out selling, administering the pitch booking system and event an distribution support in preparation an /or delivery of our fortnightly new edition release.

This is a role that allows you to use your enthusiasm, energy, interpersonal and communication skills to motivate people in difficult circumstances. The most critical aspect of the role is connecting with the participants and providing them with encouragement to enjoy and succeed in the work opportunity of being a Big Issue vendor.

Experience in a community role would be highly regarded, but not essential. We are looking for someone with a maturity in their attitude, confidence and natural communication skills to work easily with our vendors and local vendor support team.
