Quarterly Homeless BBQ Volunteers

Signal Flare Inc

Signal Flare is a not-for-profit charity that supports the homeless people and anyone who is living in financial hardship in the larger Brisbane area.

ABOUT US

Signal Flare was founded by Grant Richards, better known as Grant the Polite Guy, who himself was homeless for one and a half years when he started the BBQs. We organise a minimum of four BBQs per year around the greater Brisbane area. At these BBQs everyone shares a free lunch, and our guests also receive much needed basics such as clothes, shoes, toiletries, non-perishable foods, and children’s toys for free.

These items are all donated by the community, and we also offer haircuts, health checks, showers, and laundry. We promote social inclusion and equality where people from all walks of life come together and find connections and friendship at our BBQs.

ABOUT THE ROLES

These roles are perfect for people who have a limited time available to give back to the community and who enjoy caring for others and will work with the team to ensure our Quarterly Events run smoothly.

Our volunteers help us run Signal Flare’s social BBQ gathering on the day of the event, with a limited amount of pre-work to prepare for the day. This role requires a half day on the event day, and a bit preparation time between events.
