About the Program Onkaparinga Libraries is looking for new volunteer drivers to help deliver Home Library Services to our residents with limited mobility due to sickness, age, or incapacity.
Using the library van, you will buddy with another volunteer to deliver and collect items from customers at private dwellings and aged care facilities in the City of Onkaparinga and provide an invaluable service to our community.

Key Tasks

  • Deliver and collect Home Library Service items via the Home Library Service van
  • Participate in Risk Assessments with library staff on declared Fire Danger days
  • Communicate with Operations staff and Volunteer Coordinator regarding any issues that arise from deliveries or with Council vehicle
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure personal safety and that of others are not put at risk through any action or omission
  • Communicate any ongoing difficulties and issues to the appropriate Volunteer Coordinator

  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable
  • Basic numeracy & literacy skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to push trolleys holding books
  • Manual tasks, including lifting

Time Commitment Monday to Thursday, approximately 1.5 to 3 hours

Special Requirements

  • Must possess and provide a National Police Check before commencement
  • Hold a current South Australian Driver's Licence
  • Participate in Risk Assessments with library staff on declared Fire Danger days (These can be organised for you)
