The Victorian Aboriginal Corporation for Languages (VACL) was established in 1994. VACL is the peak body for Aboriginal Languages revitalization in the state of Victoria, leaders in the field of Language Revitalization, Language Reclamation, Resource Development, Research, and the archival, development, Aboriginal Language Library and Aboriginal languages Advocacy.

We acknowledge our work takes place across unceded lands of the Kulin nation and we pay our respects to all our Elders past, present and emerging.

Job description:

Catering Assistant: This position will suit anybody who enjoys function and event participation. Some of the areas where we need your participation is in food preparation and BBQ cooking. It must be a peoples’ person willing to enjoy an afternoon surrounded with people from all ages.

  • Food preparation such as salads and/or BBQ cooking.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and happy to be around people.
  • The ability to be part of a team, get things done and allow time to enjoy yourself.
  • Keen to rotate tasks.

Attending the training and examination of Catering Assistant is required, VACL will pay for it.

Footscray Community Art Centre

Time required:

  • Training time
  • 12 May 2024, from 9am-3pm. Flexible shifts available.

Further volunteer opportunities: VACL aims to hold four social events in 2024 and a number of cultural oriented events – you may like to participate once or more than once. Ideally, we would like to maintain our teams over 6 month to 1 year however, we are flexible.

  • Willing to work as a team
