Homeshare is an innovative way of bringing together two intergenerational groups of people with needs:

  • Older person needs someone in the house at night and help with
  • A person needing somewhere affordable to live (Homesharer Volunteer)

We are looking for people with a genuine interest in living with and supporting an older person. Homesharers are varied people although always mature, responsible and reliable. Homesharers can pursue work or study during the day, although have lifestyles that allow them to be at home most evenings to help around the home. Homesharers value the unique skills, knowledge and company of an older person.

Every match is different but Homesharers often help out with:

  • Shopping and cooking
  • Light housework
  • Garden assistance
  • Care of pets
  • Companionship

Successful Homeshare Volunteers are required to:

  • Commit to Homeshare for a minimum of 6-12+ months
  • Complete required safety checks (Police check & Working With Children Check, Covid and Flu Vaccination, Interview & Reference checks)
  • Attend information and training activities
  • Pay a contribution towards utilities (gas, electricity etc)
  • Maintain interest and contribute to the wellbeing of the homeowner
