The Australian Film Institute (AFI/AACTA) was founded in 1958 and is Australia’s national screen organisation, with a rich and diverse history that is respected the world over for celebrating, honouring, and nurturing Australian achievements in film and television. AFI/AACTA strives to promote and encourage film and television excellence in Australia, connecting Australians to international audiences through great Australian screen content. Each year, AFI|AACTA presents the annual AACTA awards recognising achievements both locally and internationally. The Academy is Australia’s most prestigious film and television membership body, comprised of a cross-section of Australian screen professionals. For the first time in its history, AFI|AACTA will also be holding a four-day AACTA Festival on the Gold Coast, surrounding the annual AACTA Awards.
