Our small township of Maldon has got more history than you could poke the proverbial stick at and on the site of the once rich Great Western Cymru Company Mine, The Maldon Vintage Machinery & Museum can only be described as a haven with many treasures. Machinery of which manyare working order, But and there is a big but we are so much more to our museum, it has evolved into an incredibly unique display of history covering many eras. It shows how life was once worked and lived, with the use of hand tool, horsepower, to the industrial revolution with engines and electricity to solar power, moving towards the way we live today. There is all manner of agricultural machinery, from crosscut saws and artefacts and all sorts of Engines, ploughs, harrows, sheep equipment and hay equipment. There’s Aunty Jack, a 9 horsepower Marshall engine. There is the 100 year old steam driven electric generator, valued at more than $700.000 Cornelius Pedis- 1849 Edinburgh built Steam engine. Known to be the only one in the world. Our Fire shed houses Maldon’s hand pumped fire engine and Fire Brigades memorabilia. With uniforms from different era and styles of Fire fighting, extinguishers, Competition Running, Pumps, Radio, Images and so much Then there is the Tarrangower Times (the local ‘rag’) printing press, The old town weighbridge and office. including a giant very rare marble switchboard and an equally rare upright Steam driven Pump all from Thompson’s foundry. Large pieces of machinery of Thompsons early manufacture have been donated and are on display. Many Thompson Pumps, mining equipment, generators etc….. The new ‘Thompsons Drawing Office’ project will provide a place where Draftspersons, students and interested personnel can visit for an insight as to how drawings were prepared prior to the computer CAD programing age. Gold displays Dairy Display Tori Shed- The ultimate Man's shed. Our collection has great research potential due to its association with places of national, state and local heritage significance around Australia, such as the Castlemaine Diggings Heritage National Park. The research potential of the collection is enhanced by the high level of intactness of the recordkeeping system and its various components, and the ability of the various archival components to inform each other. Our Members are all very proud of what we have achieved in the few years of hard work and dedication. The Maldon Vintage Machinery and Museum has plans to keep growing and moving forward. Ensuring the community of Maldon has a Museum they can be proud of and will remain a place for visitors and families for years to come. We need more help to make this all happen .
