Autism Advisory and Support Service (AASS) is a not-for-profit organisation based in south west Sydney, Northern NSW and Queensland. Our mission is to empower children and adults with autism and their families through knowledge and support. Since 2007, AASS has provided support services including advocacy, family support, support coordination and therapies that are essential to ensuring individuals with autism receive the necessary assistance, understanding, and resources to thrive. We collaborate with professionals, such as doctors, psychologists, therapists, law enforcers and educators to design appropriate support plans which will build capacity and bring positive outcomes for improved quality of life. AASS has a social enterprise Resource Store that provides accessible and affordable resources for people with Autism. It also runs a traineeship program employing people with autism and supporting them to achieve tertiary qualifications. We are also opening a second social enterprise in 2023, a combined Opportunity Shop and Café which will allow us to expand our employment readiness programs. AASS is a longstanding Community Partner within the Western Sydney University School of Medicine’s Medicine in Context Program. This program works with university students studying medicine to explore social determinants of health and learn how health services form a continuity of care in the real world where people live.
