It's true. Grannies do it. But there's more to volunteering than selling cardigans at the local op-shop. Don't get us wrong, we love grannies, cardies and op-shops. But volunteers come from all ages and backgrounds. And they do the most amazing things. Without them, the world would be very different. In a not-very-good way. More please

Ski Guide - Disabled Winter Sports Victoria

By Jono
I've been a volunteer ski guide with Disabled Winter Sports Victoria, involving facilitating people with a wide variety of disabilities to have a skiing/snow-boarding experience adapted to their strengths and abilities. After spending a ski season in Canada and seeing some amazing amputee and sit skiers who skied twice as hard and fast as I do, I was inspired to make skiing and boarding accessible to people who might need some assistance to get on the snow. It certainly made me appreciate my time on the snow even more, and I haven't seen a participant or volunteer without a huge smile on their face at the end of the weekend.
